From being able to navigate the park correctly right through to nailing down the best dining options, a little preparation will go a long way once you are there.

Tip 1: Plan Ahead and Book Early

As you can imagine, Disneyland Paris is one of the world’s most busiest theme parks, attracting visitors from all over the world. It is always the best option to BOOK EARLY as this guarantees your entry to the park and also allows you a wider choice of hotels and room types that you can often find with better prices. If you like a bargain, the best times to visit the Park is during the off-peak period between January to March, and October to November. You’ll notice fewer crowds, shorter wait times on all rides and attractions and much more affordable rates for hotels. Weekdays are also a great time to visit the parks for a more relaxed experience, and if you want to visit for special occasions such as Halloween and Christmas, expect things to be very busy and a lot more expensive!

There are two main parks that make up the magic of Disneyland Paris: Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. Disneyland Park is the original Disney experience, with fairy-tale charm everywhere you look that is divided into five themed worlds. Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Discoveryland. This can be done up to 12 months in advance and is always advised if you’re wanting to dine at popular restaurants like Bistrot Chez Remy, Captain Jacks – Restaurant des Pirates, and Manhattan Restaurant inside Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel.

Tip 5: Download the Disneyland Paris App

As you can imagine, our staff have been to Disneyland® Paris over the years more times than most and one thing that everyone always mentions is how much of a game changer the official Disneyland® Paris app is.

The app makes navigating the parks so much easier as it eliminates the need for the old-school paper maps. Everything you need is right there on your phone which means more time enjoying the magic and less time trying to figure out where you are. In addition to navigating around the Park, you’ll also have access to wait times for rides and attractions in real time. This means you can take a look at which rides have the shortest lines which is ideal for those with a limited amount of time.

Another important feature of the official Disneyland® Paris app is your ability to make restaurant reservations. This is particularly useful because as we’ve just mentioned, some popular restaurants can get booked up very quickly. Oh – and if you’re anything like us you’ll love the fact you can browse the menus of restaurants ahead of time!

Tip 6: Plan for Different Weather Conditions

Paris experiences all four seasons quite distinctly being situated in Western Europe. In the spring (March to May), the weather is usually mild with occasional showers, so a light jacket and an umbrella are good to have. Summer (June to August) brings warmer temperatures, sometimes reaching up to 30°C (86°F), so think light clothing, hats, and plenty of suncream as there is limited amount of shade. Autumn (September to November) cools down again and can be quite wet, so layers and rain gear are essential. Winter (December to February) can get pretty cold, sometimes dipping below freezing, so warm coats, gloves, and scarves are a must.

Tip 7: Budget for Souvenirs and Extras

Continuing with the French theming, Bistrot Chez Remy transports guests to the animated streets of Paris in homage to one of our favourite Disney/Pixar films, Ratatouille. Upon entering, guests are ‘shrunken’ down to the size of a rat with giant plates and cutlery creating a playful magical atmosphere. Dishes include the famous Ratatouille, French onion soup, grilled steaks, and roasted chicken and fish.

Captain Jacks – Restaurant des Pirates

For the adventurers, Captain Jack’s – Restaurant des Pirates is a wonderful choice for those wanting an adventurous dining experience at Disneyland® Paris. Located in Adventureland, diners will find themselves in the heart of a pirate's lair. Dim lighting combined with the tropical tavern feel creates a mysterious atmosphere which is hard to beat. The menu features Caribbean-inspired dishes including mahi-mahi fish, jerk pork, cod fritters and tonka bean flavoured tart.

Manhattan Restaurant

For a more upmarket and sophisticated meal, you may want to consider booking a table at the Manhattan Restaurant located inside Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. The restaurant brings the chic and trendy ambiance of New York City to Disneyland® Paris alongside subtle Marvel-themed artwork and décor. American Italian is on the menu here, with herb-roasted suckling pig the star of the show, alongside veal chops, sea bass, other meats, and pasta dishes.

Character Dining Experiences

To avoid disappointment, for all these popular restaurants, it is recommended to book your table up to 12 months in advance which you can do over on the Disneyland® Paris official app.

Flexibility in Dining Reservations

Disneyland® Paris is huge, with so many attractions, shows and restaurants it can be easy to get caught up in the moment. Understandably, plans can change in an instant. Luckily, Disneyland Paris offers flexibility for such instances with free cancellation for dining reservations up to the day of the reservation which can be done via the Disneyland Paris app.

Simply head to the “My table bookings” section of your account and choose the dining option you would like to cancel. Likewise, if you are staying at a Disney hotel, you can make dining reservations through the app as soon as you make your resort booking making it easier than ever to book lunch or dinner.

If you are not staying at a Disney resort, you can still make dining reservations, but there are some restrictions. For Standard Dining Reservations, these are available 60 days before your visit. For Character breakfast dining reservations, these can be booked 3 days before your visit so make sure you keep an eye out on the days leading up to your visit! Often people cancel at the last moment meaning there are usually some tables available on the day and some restaurant do allow walk ins.

It is safe to say that 2019 is shaping up to be the ultimate year for Disney films! Many familiar faces are back or getting a fresh makeover, just in time for some of the best and most exciting events Disneyland® Paris has to offer in 2019. We have taken a magical look at what is coming out this year and gathered our top five upcoming Disney films along with the special events that you are not going to want to miss at Disneyland® Paris…

Toy Story 4 – 21st June 2019

Set to be the film of the summer, our favourite team of toys is back. Woody, Jessie, Buzz and co are returning, along with a few new faces to bring our inner child back out. With so much enjoyment sure to be conjured up, there will be no playing around this time, especially with the launch of Toy Story Play Days (18th June until 28th June 2019) at the Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland® Paris falling around the release. Allow your younger self to come back fully, by exploring the wonders of the Toy Story Land area. Shrink to the size of the toys, amongst the giant toy themed pieces before jumping on board Slinky’s rollercoaster or take a selfie with the giant Buzz, who is there to greet you.

Whilst the land is available all year, any true Toy Story fan (or budding ones), will want to take a trip to Toy Story Land as soon as possible, as the Play Days season is only on for this summer. The Lion King – 19th July 2019

If you are feeling brave enough, spend the spooky season with the big-screen star at Disneyland® Paris in 2019, during Disney’s Halloween Festival season, starting on the 28th September until 3rd November 2019. From terrifying live shows to petrifying parties, the Disneyland® Park is gearing up for an extra special spooky time in 2019, hosting not one but two Disney's Halloween Party's!

With the choice to experience a party like no other either on the 26th or 31st October, MagicBreaks advises you pack your best cloaks, witches’ hats and pumpkins for you and your little monsters, as fancy-dress outfits are a must. From the 9th November until the 5th January 2020, Disneyland® Paris will be transforming into a magical Christmas wonderland, as it hosts its annual Disney’s Enchanted Christmas season.

Get into the swing of the season with Mickey’s house band. Dance along with Goofy, as he leads the nutcrackers in the special festive parade and watch the enchanting giant Christmas tree get set aglow every evening. There is also a chance to meet Santa, who knows that there is not a more magical place on earth to spend Christmas than at Disneyland® Paris.

Star Wars: Episode IX – 19th December 2019

Get ahead of the Legends of the Force: A Celebration of Star Wars season, returning to Disneyland Paris in January 2020 until March 2020, by making sure you catch the final feature in the new Star Wars saga. 3. Star Wars™ Hyperspace Mountain

Located in Discoveryland at Disneyland® Park, blast through a swarm of TIE fighters and do battle with a menacing Star Destroyer in this Star Wars takeover of a classic Disney space attraction. This must-do attraction catapults you into darkness and whizzes you past shooting stars and celestial satellites at a speed of 56 km per hour. Plus, this is FASTPASS® attraction, so you can skip the queue!

4. Sleeping Beauty’s Castle

It won’t take long for you to spot Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, a figure of elegance rising high in the sky at the end of Main Street, U.S.A.® in Disneyland® Park. Take a look around the castle and every day is Christmas in the Disney store located within. But you must be careful of the life-sized sleeping dragon that occasionally awakens, puffs smoke and roars, underneath the main Castle entrance.

5. Lunch with Disney Princesses

8. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster with Aerosmith

Not for the faint hearted! Located in the Backlot of Walt Disney Studios® Park, listen to Aerosmith play tracks in the studio then embark on a rip-roaring fast rock 'n' roller ride of fun. Accelerating from 0 to 57 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds, makes it the fastest ride at Disneyland® Paris.

9. Buffalo Bills Wild West Show...with Mickey and Friends!

Enjoy live country music in Colonel Cody's Saloon with Sheriff Goofy, before taking your seat. Prepare to defend your ranch in competitions which take place in the arena just in front of you. Sit back and watch how the West was won while tucking into an authentic Texan BBQ.

5 must-have items to take to Disneyland® Paris

Hello! If you’re reading this post, I imagine you have booked your trip to Disneyland® Paris and you’re wondering what you need to take. Here at MagicBreaks, we’d like to provide you with the most magical and stress-free trip as possible, so we have outlined what we believe to be the five must-have items to take to Disneyland® Paris.

1. Tickets

Now, this may seem like an obvious one, but tickets are THE must have item. If you have booked your whole package with MagicBreaks, you will receive your tickets upon arrival at your Disney® Hotel. You must remember to take your ticket to the gate with you each time you wish to enter the Disneyland® Park or Walt Disney Studios® Park, otherwise you’ll either have to walk back to your hotel to get your ticket or take the Disney Shuttle. Wouldn’t you rather be spending that time experiencing the magic of the parks?

If you are simply visiting Disneyland® Paris for the day and you are just needing tickets, you can book these with us too by selecting the ‘Ticket Only’ option on our search tab. You will be sent your e-tickets by email. Simply print them out and display it at the gate and you’re ready to experience the magic!

2. Disney PhotoPass™

Disney PhotoPass™ enables you to store all your souvenir photos taken by Disney Photographers around the Parks or on attractions and stores high quality digital image files ready for you to print off time and time again at home! This fantastic facility is available to purchase prior to your arrival! Plus, when you book at least 4 days prior to your departure, you can make a great saving.

3. Mickey/Minnie Mouse Ears

If you can’t beat them, join them. As you walk down Main Street U.S.A®, you’ll see a sea of Mickey and Minnie ears and it is a great way to feel part of the magic. Pop into one of several shops as you enter the park where you can choose from a phenomenal range. They are a great souvenir to take home to remind you of your fairy-tale trip and they even offer limited edition seasonal ears which are extra special ones to add to your collection.

4. Comfy shoes

Let’s get practical. Despite the great Disney Shuttle service that is offered throughout the resort, there is still a hefty amount of walking involved in a trip to Disneyland® Paris. There are so many attractions to enjoy, Disney Characters to see, restaurants to eat in and so much more, so you don’t want uncomfortable shoes to affect that. We can’t advise you enough to take your comfiest boots or trainers to accompany you on your trip.

5. Smartphone power pack

Did you even go on holiday if it’s not all over your social media feed?! The last thing you need when you’re having the time of your life is for your phone battery to die, as you may miss capturing magical moments. So, make sure you pack a trusty power bar to give your phone plenty of juice, as trust me, it’ll need it.
